Stingger, the best way to tell what a comic is worth is what it goes for on ebay. Comics are a very fluid investment.

As far as book value vs what you paid, that depends on a lot of factors. Mint vs Near Mint, vs Good; When the price was set and the sources they used to set the price.

If you won it on ebay, then that is probably around the price it is going for currently. Unless you can find someone who is willing to pay the $100.

So it is very hard to say what it will be worth ten years from now. It could go up or noone could be interested and it could go down.

Two main things drive the value of comics, Popularity and amount of comics in circulation.

Action Comics #1 is worth a lot because it si a well known character and there are only around 7 left in existance. If tomorrow someone shows up that had 100 mint copies in his basement, the price would drop some.

Invincible is hot right now. New people are discovering it and want the back issues, it had a low print run, so it is worth more right now. If 5 years or even 5 months from now less people are seeking it out, then the price can drop.

That is the problem with buying lesser known comics as a investment. I really encourage people to just buy for entertainment. That is the only value that you can accurately gauge.

A lot of people purchased the issue of Captain America where he died for $100+ online. Only to find out a week or two later the price dropped to under $20. It's all supply and demand in the rawest form.

Hmmm .. I've heard that reply before no disrespect ... I guess another question/s

A tale from an American comic / mightbe wrong, but one that was definately resurrected in England ... going on to do better in the states .. still it appears to this date.

Miricle Man .. or over here MarvelMan ?

How do you think the "scanning" market is over running comics these days ?

I went a little overboard on eBay right before 300 came out. I ended up with two extra copies of the mini-series. Fortunately I know a couple of guys that collect comics that would appreciate them.
